چکیده

In the context of shape optimization with geometric constraints we employ the method of mappings (perturbation of identity) to obtain an optimal control problem with a nonlinear state equation on a fixed reference domain. The Lagrange multiplier associated with the geometric shape constraint has a low regularity (similar to state constrained problems), which we circumvent by penalization and a continuation scheme. We employ a Moreau-Yosida-type regularization and assume a second-order condition to hold. The regularized problems can then be solved with a semismooth Newton method and we study the properties of the regularized solutions and the rate of convergence towards a solution of the original problem. A model for the value function in the spirit of [17] is introduced and used in an update strategy for the regularization parameter. The theoretical findings are supported by numerical tests.

On Second-order Properties of the Moreau-Yosida Regularization for Constrained Nonsmooth Convex Programs

In this paper, we attempt to investigate a class of constrained nonsmooth convex optimization problems, that is, piecewise C2 convex objectives with smooth convex inequality constraints. By using the Moreau-Yosida regularization, we convert these problems into unconstrained smooth convex programs. Then, we investigate the second-order properties of the Moreau-Yosida regularization η. By introdu...

Sufficient Optimality Conditions for the Moreau-yosida-type Regularization Concept Applied to Semilinear Elliptic Optimal Control Problems with Pointwise State Constraints∗

We develop sufficient optimality conditions for a Moreau-Yosida regularized optimal control problem governed by a semilinear elliptic PDE with pointwise constraints on the state and the control. We make use of the equivalence of a setting of Moreau-Yosida regularization to a special setting of the virtual control concept, for which standard second order sufficient conditions have been shown. Mo...

Preconditioners for state-constrained optimal control problems with Moreau-Yosida penalty function

Optimal control problems with partial differential equations as constraints play an important role in many applications. The inclusion of bound constraints for the state variable poses a significant challenge for optimization methods. Our focus here is on the incorporation of the constraints via the Moreau-Yosida regularization technique. This method has been studied recently and has proven to ...

Minimal Invasion: an Optimal L∞ State Constraint Problem

In this work, the least pointwise upper and/or lower bounds on the state variable on a specified subdomain of a control system under piecewise constant control action are sought. This results in a non-smooth optimization problem in function spaces. Introducing a Moreau-Yosida regularization of the state constraints, the problem can be solved using a superlinearly convergent semi-smooth Newton m...

A fast solver for an H1 regularized PDE-constrained optimization problem

In this paper we consider a PDE-constrained optimization problem where an H1 regularization control term is introduced. We address both timeindependent and time-dependent versions. We introduce bound constraints on the state, and show how these can be handled by a Moreau-Yosida penalty function. We propose Krylov solvers and preconditioners for the different problems and illustrate their perfor...
